Black History Month Film Screening Presented by Associated Black Charities
Join us for a powerful Black History Month film screening of The Black Panthers: Vanguard of the Revolution, the acclaimed documentary by legendary filmmaker Stanley Nelson that chronicles the rise, vision, and global impact of the Black Panther Party. Through rare archival footage and first-hand accounts, the film moves beyond caricature to reveal the Panthers as a revolutionary movement rooted in self-determination, community care, political education, and resistance to systemic injustice.
The evening will feature pre-screening remarks from Paul Coates, former leader of the Black Panther Party in Baltimore and founder of Black Classic Press. Mr. Coates brings lived experience, historical insight, and a Baltimore-centered perspective that deepens our understanding of the Panthers’ local and national legacy - and their continued relevance today.
